This is my Emma Grace Hay.

I may be a bit biased, but I think she is quite beautiful and even kind of sweet at times! Jeff and I are so proud of her; this year was her first year to be home schooled and to participate in the Classical Conversations curriculum. It is tough! Each week the students have to memorize 7 chunks of information- one from each of math, science, English, geography, History, Latin, and parts of a timeline of our history of Christianity and the world woven together. Did I mention that it is tough? Well, we set a goal at the beginning of the year that if she memorized each chunk of information perfectly for all 24 weeks, she would receive a prize. We really had no idea if this was obtainable or not. Each week at CC the kids "proof". They say the memory work to their parent, tutor, or another parent. Week by week she completed each section beautifully.
By the end of the year, we realized that
Miss Emma Grace Hay had said ALL of the information EACH week!
Have I mentioned that this was hard work? :o)
We have told her how very proud we are of her hard work and perseverance. There were some tears just yesterday morning even when she was trying to memorize the LAST chunk of English. It was a doozy! After tears and some time away for a calm down, she did it!
So, she recited the last 7 chunks to daddy when he got home, and we declared it a Cherry Berry evening! She was THRILLED! She was PROUD! It was so good to see her confidence soar and for her to have a sense of accomplishment!
The girls felt that they needed to sit away from the boys and parents. Ha! And so it begins!
J eating her oh so yummy concoction.
The proud student displaying her mouth full of big teeth coming in! ;o)
And, of course I had to throw the boys in there! They were proud of sis, too!
I know this may seem conceited as I am just bragging about my girl, but I just want to make sure one day if she ever reads this that she knows we felt proud of her academic accomplishment. We are proud of her in so many other ways as well, though. I am especially proud of the character and spiritual growth we've seen in her this year as well. She's a special girl!
