Easter

I always love Easter. Well, what Christian doesn't?

It's always humbling to reflect on what Christ did for ME.
It always helps to put life back into perspective and put my focus back where it should be.

To know him and to make him known.

To serve him.

To teach my children about him.

To love him with all my being.

It's such a beautiful time in the life of a Christian!

We did a mixture of traditions spanning from fun to reminders of the cross. In these next pics we are dying Easter eggs with the Hay fam. Mimi invited us over to dye eggs with Owen.

Aunt Caroline and Owen working their magic.
Doesn't she look GREAT! She had a baby like 8 wks ago!

Aunt C had the great idea to use a whisk to hold the egg while dyeing it!

Jeff enjoying some color time.
Don't let his embarrassed face make you think he was forced into this! ;o)

The group working away.

And, if you were wondering where Kevin and sweet Simon were,
well here they are!
Kev was having some tickle time
with our newest little family member.

Sweet Simon
Of course, I couldn't get a shot of him grinning for his daddy!

Noah thought Uncle Kev was pretty funny too!

Mimi was taping the event on her phone.
We had a picture/filming war.

The finished product!

The finished product with the big kids.
Owen has been elevated to big kid status! :o)

Another little tradition I have, is that each year I like to buy these little sticker books from Mardel that take the kids through the Easter story. It's such a practical way to teach the kids about the details of the story.

Also, last year we began making these biscuits.
The girls love to make them. We put a marshmallow
(Jesus) in the middle of dough and throw them in the oven. Then the girls guard the oven door like the Roman soldiers. Since the marshmallow expands into the biscuit, when we cut it open and it has disappeared, we are able to cry ...

THE TOMB IS EMPTY!
HE HAS RISEN!

Finally, we always do little Easter baskets for the kids and an Easter egg hunt on Easter morning.

Emma received her first real Bible. It has all of the chapters of the Bible. I decided to make a little quiet time basket for her. Soon we will be implementing some quiet time each morning!

This is where I would usually have the pictures of the kids dressed in their Easter finest. That didn't happen this year. The bug that had Noah down in Branson latched onto Micah. Poor guy was miserable! So, Jeff stayed home with the boys while I took the girls to church. Then we switched and Jeff took Noah and the girls to lunch at Barn and Ron's. I'll have to throw those pics in here later when I steal them from Caroline.

Finally, at the end of the day, I took the girls and Noah to Ray and Holly's house for Easter dinner and another egg hunt. Ray's mom and dad were there to help celebrate. Of course I didn't bring my camera so I stole a few from my sis.

Noah was enjoying the hunt.

Evidently mom was too!

Me and my baby. It's fun to be in a pic! Ha!

Mom helping Ray hunt for eggs.

He's kinda cute!

Mrs. Cecil brought some goodies for the kids. She and Mr. Cecil are always so thoughtful and include my kiddos in the fun!

Mrs. Cecil found this fun sucker for Ray and my boys. It's hilarious!
I still need to get a pic of my boys with their suckers.

That's Easter in a nutshell around here.
Maybe next year we can get some of those cutesy pics!
Hopefully though I can continue to keep my focus where it should be!

Oh, here is one final pic that I forgot to include. Emma decorated this egg for us. It is Jesus with our Jeremiah crawling on the ground next to him. I just love how she remembers him and that she now pictures J with Jesus. It brings tears to my eyes every single time. Easter has become even more special because I love to picture Jeremiah worshipping what Jesus did IN Jesus' presence. Amazing!
I guess this should be enough to keep my focus in the right place!

Silver Dollar City

And, here are our pics of Silver Dollar City. This was the first time we have ever stayed for four hours! We've always had a little one who needed a nap! The boys were such troopers even sick Noah. Also, for the first time, both girls could ride pretty much all rides! We still stuck to the kiddie area mainly, but Emma and daddy did enjoy Powder Keg!

The boys' view for most of the trip!

Emma rode one of my favorite rides with me. Jeff even snapped an action shot!

This was Micah's first time on a ride!
Since Noah was feeling under the weather, I held and cuddled him.

Poor Noah, he looks miserable! I know; I know! I am a GREAT mom! We left shortly after this!

Micah discovered one of the splash pad areas.
He really thought it was so much fun to watch the water disappear!

An attempt at a kid shot as we headed out the door.

What a daddy! He seriously walked like this all the way out to the car! That was quite a feat!!

Goobers!

Another successful trip to SDC. I can hardly wait for the fun of having all four kids riding the Powder Keg together! It will be such a blast to watch each of the kids enjoy the different rides and stay out all day! For now, we will enjoy the kiddie areas and our short trips!

Branson Part I

We took our annual Spring Break trip to Branson in late March this year. We were not sure what we would be able to do while lugging two 18 mos old guys around, but we surprised ourselves and got in a few more activities than expected.

Of course we spent plenty of time snuggling up at the condo!

And playing ...

My poor, sweet Noah! This is about the only pic I have of him smiling. He got sick while we were in Branson. It extended to 5 days of random vomit and complete lethargy. We even had some nice vomit action on the Target floor ... and cart ...

I love this pic because of Micah's big open mouthed kiss he is planting on daddy! He has become quite the little love bug. Daddy had been gone and these two ran to greet him!

We spent some quality time at the indoor pool. The girls have been taking swim lessons all winter, so they had a blast displaying their new talents. This was really the boys' first taste of a swimming pool. It was so funny to see their DIFFERENT reactions and opposite reactions.

I say opposite because Micah is our go getter...always ready to tackle something new. Um, not so much  in the swimming arena. This is where my Micah spent his time. Oh, he was certainly animated trying to jump when the girls jumped, squeal, laugh, babble ... but when Jeff tried to take him out in the water, he became terrified. He was stiff and wore a face of pain. It was so opposite of what I would have guessed!

Noah baby on the other hand was up for anything! Even though he was not feeling well, he was happy to sit with daddy in the water or let daddy take him out into the deep water. This was so opposite of what I thought he would do because he is usually the cautious one of the two.

The girls having fun jumping in and Micah in the background trying to jump with them.

Here is our attempt at a family pic. Micah on the sidelines cheering everyone on having a blast while the others enjoyed fish life in the pool.

Micah did allow us to put him on the top step. He played and chatted on the top step. If Jeff tried to persuade him deeper, he clammed up fast!

My little mermaid!

We have a favorite ice cream parlor in Branson that I was so excited to visit! Night one of attempt, Noah threw up, so we stayed home. On night two, we made it and ate our ice cream, but it was a less than fun experience. Noah SCREAMED the entire time, so we ate our ice cream in warp speed and jetted. These were the only pics I snapped.

And, of course it was March Madness, so we were supporting our Jayhawks!

Micah REALLY wanted a book Jeff was holding, and poor Noah felt awful!

This picture above is for Holly. I just had to put it in! We have a pic of me doing the same thing that Jenna is doing to Noah, but I am doing it to Holly. SMILE!

And, we did a lot of outdoor playing!

I love our time in Branson! It is a cheesy town, but we just love to spend time together and make our own fun! We've got food, shopping, SDC, White Water, and swimming. What more do you need?

Seriously, though I hope that we can continue this as the kids grow up.  I love the memories we are making as a family. I can't wait to look back on these pics in ten years and compare them to the new memories! Thanks Mimi and Papa for making it possible by letting us stay in the condos!
